ALEXANDROS ECONOMOU

Alexandros Economou is a partner and the managing director of AEllc. Alexandros’ practice covers all areas of corporate, commercial and banking law, with particular focus on corporate acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, restructurings and reorganisations, on banking and finance and in capital markets, securitisations and private equity transactions.

Also specialising in all aspects of EU and CY law relating to competition and Merger Control and in selected aspects of EU Law (in particular Internal Market issues, data protection and consumer protection laws).

Alexandros has served and is serving on board of directors of private, regulated and listed companies, including member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Audit Committee and of the AML Committee of Prime Insurance Company Limited, an (life and non-life) insurance company in Cyprus and Greece regulated by the Cyprus Superintendent of Insurance, from May 2019 to-date; Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Audit Committee between 2014 – 2018 of Top Ships Inc., listed on the NASDAQ (ticker- ‘TOPS’); Management Shareholder, Non-Executive Director and Internal Auditor of Clegane AIFLNP V.C.I.C. Limited, an alternative investment fund with limited number of persons regulated by CySEC (Licence Number: LPAIF74/2014), from August 2017 – November 2021; Member of the Board of Directors of subsidiaries whose parents are listed in various stock exchanges (e.g. NYSE, France, Canada, Switzerland, Brazil).

Alexandros has lectured European Internal Market (University of London external LL.M. course), EC Competition Law and UK Constitutional & Administrative Law (civil liberties aspect) alternately between semesters at Intercollege (now University of Nicosia) and was a frequent speaker in both national and international seminars and conferences and has authored several articles on various subjects.
